Summer is nearly over and its time to start thinking about taking some classes. Here at Strictly Sugarcraft we will be running a variety of classes to suit every level. If there is anything you are particularly interested in please let us know. In the meantime have a look as we put up new and exciting classes all the time.
We are excited to be attending our first show next week 12th and 13th March the Irish Sugarcraft Show is being held in Citywest Convention Centre from 10am - 6pm on the Saturday and 10am - 5pm on the Sunday, as we will be there our shop will remain closed for the two days, come see us at the show if you need anything or order online and we will have ready for you to collect.
We had a wonderful weekend here at Strictly Sugarcraft, Barbara Luraschi from Sweet Janis travelled over from Como in Italy to teach us a modelling class. She brought with her such knowledge and professionalism, it was an early start on the Saturday for our attendees but it didnt take long to settle in after a cup of tea. Sofia was the very cute sugar model and she was entirely made without the use of moulds or much equipment, also no glue was used, the exact amounts of fondant and the correct techniques were all that was needed. If you visit her facebook page you will be able to download her tutorials. Well worth a visit.
Classes are in full swing here at Strictly, the next few have been uploaded so go on and have a look and see if anything takes your fancy. Get a couple of friends together or maybe spend some time with your mum or sister and take a class together, in a lovely envionment.
This Valentines weekend we are having a 10% sale off all products in store, pop in and have a browse and a cup of tea with us. Only In Store.
How much fondant do I need?? This is one question we are constantly being asked in the shop, how much should I buy. There is nothing more frustrating then starting to decorate a cake only to run short of Fondant. Satin Ice have created a handy guide for working out how much fondant is needed to cover square and round cakes of all sizes. Please click on the link to view it, even better you can print it off and put up somewhere in the kitchen for reference.
Today we had a full class of ladies eager to learn the knack of learning how to use the "Easy Rose Cutter", first they covered three dummies in fondant and decorated a board, this is quite tiring so it was with relief that they sat down to tackle the roses. It has changed the world of sugar roses and this alternative to individually wired petals is a quick and easy way to make a lot of roses in a quarter of the normal time. They used a combination of gumpaste and sugarpaste to create the roses as it gives you more flexibility.
On Sunday 31st January we finished the month with a Children/Teen Decorating Class, we had four lovely girls in to the class, they learned how to cover and decorate a cake board, cover a cake in Satin Ice Fondant and add some of their favourite Emoji's. They also go to deorate three cupcakes each to bring home.
Last Saturday we had the pleasure to have Domy from Sweet Revolutions come teach a class for us. It was a full house and everyone were quietly excited to attend this Bride Modelling Class with her.
